OUR ORIGIN
Joshua Swainston, the JS in JS Sharpening & Bladeworks, has always loved two things:
Optimized creation; giving people exactly the best and nothing less
In-depth reseach; spending hours looking up potentially useless information whenever less important things were supposed to happen (like eating or sleeping)
(There’s a third, it’s knives)
From these ingredients, this company was born! The journey looked a little like this: first, he was just collecting expensive kitchen knives. Then, he started sharpening the knives in the family knife drawer (most of them were quite sad and dull). He then got really into thinking about knives 24/7 (except for when he was thinking about his girlfriend, now wife), then he started taking on knife sharpening from his chef coworkers (he was working for LunchPro, an organization that provides lunches to charter schools). At last, after years of honing his craft, he created his first knife, a prototype. It came out well, and he ended up loving it so much, that he decided that this was his ultimate life-long passion.
Now, we’re building something greater than even he imagined, encouraging quality and honesty in every aspect of life and business. Let’s do this for a better future, even if the change is small!
